Consul General of Belarus Ruslan Varankou meets the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists’ Association

On November 27, 2024, the Consul General of the Republic of Belarus in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr Ruslan Varankou, held a meeting with the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists’ Association, Mr Nguyen Tan Phong.
The Ho Chi Minh City Journalists’ Association was founded on December 17, 1977. It is part of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association. It has more than 1 300 members.
The Vice-Chairperson of the Association, Editor-in-Chief of the Phụ Nu newspaper, Mrs Ly Viet Trung, and the Permanent Vice-Chairman of the Association, Mr Duong Vu Thong, also attended the negotiations.
The parties discussed in detail the issues of interaction in the information sphere, and also outlined joint steps to promote cooperation between the media of Belarus and Vietnam.
The interlocutors emphasized the importance of institutional ties developed both at the regional level, including within the framework of the twinning agreement between Minsk and Ho Chi Minh City, and at the national level between the journalists’ unions of the two countries.
Nguyen Tan Phong particularly noted the need for such a basis as an effective impetus for the development of bilateral friendly relations and welcomed the active participation of the Consulate General as an information bridge between Belarus and the South Vietnam.
Ruslan Varankou and Nguyen Tan Phong expressed mutual support for the idea of strengthening information exchange between the media of Belarus and Ho Chi Minh City, including the issue of preserving historical memory, and also exchanged information on upcoming memorable dates.
