The event was organised as part of the Consul General's introduction to the leadership of the southern provinces of Vietnam, which were recently included in the consular district of the Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.

Long An Province is situated in the south of Vietnam and is the leading country’s region within the Mekong Delta. It belongs to the Southern Key Economic Development Zone and serves as the southwestern gateway to the Ho Chi Minh City agglomeration.

The province has a population of approximately 1.8 million people, with its capital city, Tan An – of around 215 thousand residents.

As of 2023, the province's GRP reached 6.7 billion US dollars. The industrial and construction sectors contribute to over half of the province’s economy, while the service sector, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries account the remainder.

Key areas of cooperation were identified, including trade, economics, investment, and humanitarian efforts.

Both sides also highlighted the need to enhance mutual awareness of their potential and foster direct interaction between the business communities of Belarus and Long An Province.
