Consul General Alexander Sidoruk meets with the leadership of Can Tho City

On May 14, due to expansion of the consular district of the Consulate General of Belarus in Ho Chi Minh City, Consul General A. Sidoruk visited Can Tho City.

During the visit, Consul General met with Mr. Le Quang Tung, Secretary of the Party Committee of Can Tho City. The meeting was also attended by the Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of the city, directors of the Department of External Affairs, Department of Industry and Trade, and Department of Finance.

During negotiations Consul General outlined priority directions for developing cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and Can Tho City. Particular attention was given to inter-regional cooperation, including establishment of twinning relations between Can Tho and one of the regional centers of Belarus, as well as organization of a visit by a Can Tho City delegation to one of the regions of Belarus.

The Vietnamese side reaffirmed its interest in further strengthening cooperation with Belarus. Information was provided on the trade, economic, and investment potential of the city. Among the promising areas of cooperation were highlighted the supply of agricultural products and investments in industrial zones.

Parties also discussed tourism cooperation and the expansion of tourists visits, leveraging Can Tho potential as the main administrative hub of the Mekong Delta.

Following the meeting, both sides expressed mutual interest in maintaining contacts and further expanding Belarusian-Vietnamese cooperation.
